well, the boy he saves is the current vice captain of 9th division, Shuhei Hisagi.Hisagi was awestruck by Kensei that's why he has 69 tattoo on his face.

This flash back is creating lots of questions like:
Do people grow in the soul society?
Didn't they (the soul reapers) say that you stay in the body you died in while in the soul society?
If people grow then why are a lot of soul reapers who are literally centuries old not aging?
Can you affect your growth?
But even more confusing is the fact the souls can reproduce......like how and what does it mean in the long run?
Does it mean the entire balance between the living and the dead souls shit is a lie and soul reapers are just killing hollows?
Because if souls can reproduce then there will never be zero souls as the ones hollows kill will be replaced by birth.
And what if a soul is reincarnated and that soul gives birth to his mother in the soul society; what is their relationship now?
Who's the mother and who's the child ?
Am I taking this too far?
Do I need to get a life and stop questioning anime logic?

iirc, pure souls can't grow. But souls with high spiritual powers (like soul reapers) can grow but it's extremely slow

when you die or get purified by a Zanpakuto as a Hollow on the world of the

But if souls can reproduce then what's all the talk about balance.... Since there'll never be too little souls. Infact the fear should come from there being too many souls. In summary give souls condom or legalize abortion in the soul society.

They said that Quincies eradicating Hollows would tip the balance so much that the world of the living and the soul society would merge. They didn't say Quincies would eradicate all souls so that the supply would diminish. That would mean there is a hardcap on souls.

And if there's a hard cap, that means humanity wouldn't be able to reproduce if they numbered too many. They just produce lifeless babies then? Makes no sense. So I think the story writers are trying to tell us that new souls get produced as well.

But then if you think further, now that Quincies have been eradicated, a limitless amount of souls will be produced forever. The Seireitei better be limitless in space or they're gonna have a problem lmao. This also doesn't make sense.

Well the entire concept of souls doesn't make sense. The brain already explains everything, from memory to emotions to personality, the soul doesn't factor in anywhere. Even for a fantasy anime it's hard to make it logically sound.

Sorry for replying late ....held up by education. I don't think my questions somehow attacks the concept of souls in real life. Partly cause real life religion does not have such restrictions or any rules surrounding souls and their existence and also there is an Omnipotent being whose in charge. PS: I'm not religious or anything I just don't see the corelation....also I'm bored.

Ah no worries. I'm just saying that if souls can reproduce, then you are correct and the story makes no sense. Otherwise, if souls can't reproduce, then the entire world in that story cannot make sense ;)

And then I sorta tried to help the writers, because it's hard to make sense out something which makes no sense in the first place.

The only difference between these souls and those in earth's (~4000) religions, is that these come from comic books a few decades old, and the others come from papyrus scrolls a few thousand years old. Your questions apply to both, I asked myself some of the same questions when I was still young and christian. Which is why I found ur post interesting, because you think things through hehe.

A lot of these questions are answered in the first 20 episodes of the anime.
